Cookout and Connect Resource Fair Promotes Mental Health Wellness and Community Support
Oriana House’s Cookout and Connect Resource Fair in Akron was a successful event that drew strong participation from our clients, community partners, and individuals served by partner organizations.
More than 20 resource tables offered attendees information about the many services available throughout the community.
The event was planned in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month.
Clinical Coordinator Jessica Nesbitt was one of the event’s key organizers. She said the gathering promoted mental health awareness, connection, and resource sharing by bringing together community members, families, and local organizations in a welcoming environment where attendees could learn about available services, build relationships, and engage in open conversations about mental wellness.
“We were so pleased with the response from the community and our clients,” Jessica said. “There were many meaningful conversations taking place, and everyone truly enjoyed themselves.”
Staff members also worked the grills to provide lunch for attendees. In addition to supporting clients and community members, the event created valuable networking opportunities for local professionals and community partners.
Vice President of Behavioral Health Allyse Hawkins praised staff for their efforts in making the event a success. “The team did an outstanding job planning and coordinating this event, and we greatly appreciate program staff who encouraged clients to attend and participate.”
Oriana House Advisory Committee Members Sylvia Trundle and Summit County Common Pleas Court Magistrate Job Esau Perry also attended.
