CROSSWAEH Clients Graduate from New Workforce Development Course
CROSSWAEH Community Based Correctional Facility (CBCF) recently celebrated its first graduation for clients who completed the In2Work program, a workforce development course that is taught onsite and is sponsored by Aramark.
In2Work provides participants with food and warehouse safety training and the opportunity to earn a ServSafe Manager Certification from the National Restaurant Association - a credential highly regarded in the food service industry.
Oriana House North Central Region Program Manager Shannon Maag said In2Work teaches skills that help clients succeed in their reentry. "Learning valuable work skills from an established and potential employer sets our clients up to establish meaningful, long-term job prospects," said Maag. She shared that one client proudly shared that after showing his ServSafe certificate to his employer, he received a raise because "they didn't want to lose him!"
Eight CROSSWAEH clients completed the program and were so enthusiastic about the experience that they were encouraging others to participate in future In2Work sessions.
As a second-chance employer, Aramark encourages In2Work graduates to apply for positions within the company. Graduates of the In2Work program, as well as their family members, are also eligible for Aramark educational scholarships, further expanding opportunities for personal and professional growth.
The CBCF program is an alternative to jail or prison incarceration. Clients are sanctioned to the facility for up to 180 days and receive programming that addresses issues such as education, cognitive skills, employment, anger management, substance use, and mental health. Oriana House operates the CROSSWAEH CBCF.
