On-Site Job Fair and Interviews Land Jobs for Clients at Fannie M. Lewis Community Corrections and Treatment Center

A mini-job fair held inside the Fannie M. Lewis Community Corrections & Treatment Center (CCTC) brought employment opportunities to halfway house clients who have restricted community access. DeHart Works, a staffing agency that works closely with Oriana House’s employment services, was onsite representing three companies with open positions that Oriana House clients are eligible for. Twenty-three clients attended and six of them, who have community access, were hired on the spot and started work the following Monday. The other clients made appointments to complete paperwork and are expected to be hired once they are approved to leave for work.

“We are diligently trying to increase our employment and vocational training for this facility,” said Angela Ross, Oriana House Employment and Education Coordinator. She said the event provided job opportunities and teaching moments for clients. “The Employment Team did a fantastic job making sure that everyone had their credentials, was on time for the event, and was properly attired!”

Ross said this is the first of many in-house job fairs she plans to hold.
